Honolulu, HI, November 10, 2015, Cheryl Wilkinson, Founder, CEO and Veteran Consultant for Traditional Assistance, has been recognized by Elite American Military for dedication, achievements and leadership in human resources.
Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after 23 years of service, Ms. Wilkinson established Transitional Assistance after her own experience re-acclimating to civilian life. “I didn’t want to rely on government assistance and I knew other veterans didn’t want to either,” she said of her professional motivation and inspiration. Now in its 7th year of operation, Transitional Assistance provides programs for mental health and life skills training for those at risk for becoming homeless or unemployed after serving their terms. In short, Ms. Wilkinson aims to empower. She has access to powerful resources aimed at helping issues of disabilities, ADA compliance, sexual assault, domestic violence, housing, mental heath and addiction.
Ms. Wilkinson continues to affiliate with governmental entities and military organizations. She is a lifetime member of DAV, a member of the Military Police Regimental Association, a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America society, SHRM, NAACP, The Engineer Association and the MVP Network, which is a sponsorship program for veterans’ job search. In the years since leaving the military, Ms. Wilkinson achieved a master’s degree in human resources management and services from Webster University and a bachelor’s degree in general studies with an emphasis in human resources from Columbia University. As she looks to the future, Ms. Wilkinson will continue offering collaborative programs to help veterans become self-sufficient.
